Hello all,
Hopeing someone will be able to help me with this problem, it has been bugging me…
Basically I was updating my MBWE to the newest firmware (01.02.06) … for some bizare reason, it was being very sluggish that day. So I left it to update whist I had my tea. So I went back to my laptop half way through my tea to check the progress, it was at 15%, so I left it to finish. Another 30mins later it was still at 15%, left it a futher 10mins, still on 15% … so I stupidly decided to restart my MBWE and try again on my desktop PC with a wired internet connection, (hoping it would be faster).
It booted fine and was working still. Although I went to check for new firmware and it said I had the newest firmware (01.02.06). I couldn't have the newest firmware though, as it didn't complete. So I assume it has updated the firmware version number, but not the actual firmware itself.
I have been browsing the forum for a work around for my problem. I have found solutions, but being a complete newbie to the "hacking/ssh" side of it I am unable to fix it. All I want to do is re-install the newest firmware again, but WD don't allow you to re-install your current firmware. I found a tutorial on this website which mentioned changing the firmware version number, so it would simply trick it into re-installing it. Being the n00b I am, I have no idea how to do it, or go about solving it.
Would anyone be able to give me the simplest step by step to solve my problem? It has to be simple as I have never used ssh. I will ever so greatful if anyone could help me solve this problem and save my "factory restoring" the device. The drive I have is the single drive (1TB white light).
Thanks
Jordan
