Goodday guys:)!.I am facing a problem with the WD MyBook World Edition (500GB).When trying to set up an ftp server in it following the steps that were shown on this site my disc became a brick!. At the last step (when trying to get sshd permanent) after rebooting, my disc became a «brick»!!!.It kicks off but the blue light does not show up and i dont have access to it. So my last chance to retrieve the data i had in it is to pull out of the box the HDD and backup my data. The problem is that i dont know how to open the box!.I have seen some fotos of the MyBook that was opened but i cant find anywhere on the net a guide of how i could open that box. Can you show me how to open the box please?.

I had the problem same as you. I couldn't find any info about opening it. It's little tricky but after 1 hour i opened it. Not fully openned ut i have success to open only the top metal. Then i put the box in my pc's case. Then i fix it. I also couldn't get out hdd in it even i try :)

Thanks for the link as I'd also like to reset the mybook to factory default. Only thing is that I'm not sure how to get to the mybook then. Now I can connect through SSH, but how should I execute commands when it's connected directly to my Windows-pc?
