I recently reinstalled the factory firmware, to be able to start again with the hacks. I enabled ssh (using the original Martin Hinner hack) and used v4 of the LDSO_RUNPATH enabled firmware hack. The current firmware I have on there is 2.00.19, on a 1TB single disk bluering.
All went fine, and I started to proceed to installing optware, but following one of the necessary reboots I tried to ssh back in (using PuTTY) only to receive the message "Server refused to allocate pty".
Reading around, it suggested I try WinSCP (which can ssh in, but I cannot su). It also suggested running /sbin/MAKEDEV pty and /sbin/MAKEDEV tty, but since I cannot log in or use root, I can't attempt these.
I have been trying, without much success, to downgrade the firmware back to a factory setting, but each time the update fails.
Suggestions gratefully received! At the worst, I have to set up an httpd on one of my computers just to serve a firmware upgrade file, but unless that's likely to work, I don't want the waste my time doing it.
