I was recently tasked with setting up a small LAN at my work.
We have two MyBook World II 1TB drives, and 8 PCs connected via a 16 port switch.
The work we do is based on a database, held centrally on one of the MyBook Drives (say A)
The second drive is used for backups only. We use backup software which runs at predetermined times throughout the day, while the users are logged on and using the database.
I've now been asked to investigate encrypting both these drives, since they contain quite sensitive information.
Basically, if they're stolen, they want them to be unreadable.
Can anyone offer me some advice on how to go about this, using what software?
My prime concern is that it should effectively be transparent - because our databases are quite large, I don't want there to be a noticable performance hit.
