Ok … I've got a MyBook World Ed., that I used on both in Mac and Windows environments. I had a problem where the drive either would open (in Mac) or was slow to open (in Windows). I plugged a CAT6 cable directly from the computer to the drive, opened the utility tool and rebooted the drive. Once that was done, I can't open the drive in either Mac or Windows. I've tried resetting the drive….. nothing doing. WD says they'd replace the drive, but won't cover the cost of data recovery. Awesome!
I was thinking that perhaps I could remove the drive, put it in an enclosure, and get the data from it. Am I right or no? I'm not new to tech. work, but am new to NAS manipulation. Can anyone assist?
