I just installed optware in my MyBook World Edition II 2 TB edition. I installed vim, git, python and gitosis without problems, however, to install gitosis from git I need setuptools (a python package), and whnen trying to install those setuptools I get this error:
~/src/setuptools # sh setuptools-0.6c11-py2.5.egg
setuptools-0.6c11-py2.5.egg: setuptools-0.6c11-py2.5.egg: 8: basename: not found
[: setuptools-0.6c11-py2.5.egg: unknown operand
setuptools-0.6c11-py2.5.egg is not the correct name for this egg file.
Please rename it back to setuptools-0.6c11-py2.5.egg and try again.
It seems like I'm missing a typical unix shell command called basename. Any ideas on how to solve this?
This is what I have installed:
~/src/setuptools # uname -a
Linux MyBookWorld 188.8.131.52 #1 Thu Apr 1 16:43:58 CST 2010 armv5tejl unknown
The basename-command and many other tools are missing on the myBook.
But you can easy add them, look in the "Installing & Configuring Programs"-section of the forum, the thread
"Do you need more unix-tools/commands?"
shows you an easy way.
