I have browsed the forum and googled around, yet I cannot say that I found a definite answer to my question. I have a 2x500GB MBWEII Blue ring, I would like to upgrade it to 2x2TB, to be used in RAID1 mode (mirroring). I read that the Advanced Format drives, i.e. the "EARS", might pose a problem. They are not recommended for RAID environments (they lack TLER), however it seems that the MBWE II White Light NAS uses exactly the green disks. Is it because our NASes are sort of "light" RAID?
Even if I remain disaligned with the 4k boundary, considering the low overall performance of the NAS itself, I don't think I would suffer any performace issue, but is there any way to do things "clean" and align the partitions?
Overall: has anyone successfully upgraded the MBWEII Blue Ring to EARS disks in RAID1 mode? If so, are you still living with misaligned partitions or did you manage to realign them?
Thanks, best regards
