Let me preface this by telling you that I am a total new to all things linux. I want to host a website on my mbwe. My ISP allows port 80 to the public, but it shows my mbwe admin login page. Is there any way to put that on port 8080 and the public webserver on 80 so that it ports through like you'd think it should? I have my website working fine on port 8080 and can access it from the outside of my network, but it is really irritating to have the port on the address. I have googled extensively and the only ideas I can find discuss mapping port 80 on my router to 8080 on mbwe, but my router apparently can't handle that. Any ideas?
I have the admin (mini_httpd) on port 8080 and used it only inside the lan.
I have changed /etc/init.d/S55mini_httpd HTTP_PORT="80" to HTTP_PORT="8080"
For the public I used Lighttpd on port 80.
For Lighttpd you need Optware. See http://mybookworld.wikidot.com/optware
This works well for my.
