The MBL ran fine for about a month, then shut off randomly. I restarted it, but found I couldn't access it at all: SSH didn't work, it didn't respond to pings, etc. So, I took the hard drive out and followed to debricking guide on here. It worked flawlessly for about a week after I debricked it, then it randomly shut off again - the same problem.
I ran SeaTools, Drive Fitness Test and Data Lifeguard and they all reported SMART was working fine, however it failed extended tests, and reported bad sectors were found. I used HDD regenerator to repair the bad sectors (over 200 of them), and this is where I'm at. I'm pretty convinced that, at 200 bad sectors, the drive is dead or will be dead soon. I'm going to follow the debricking guide again and see if it works, but I don't think it will.
Really, all I wanted to know is if I bought a new 1TB Caviar Green HDD and put it in (after installing the Debian image on it), would it work or not.
