I'm just about to install OpenVPN via optware..
Stupid question.. where it says
"When you are asked for a challenge phrase, type "ENTER".
Do I type ENTER and press return
Do I just press return ??
If IRC(and been a while since i set up openvpn) the challenge phrase is an extra password end users of the vpn link will need to key in order to complete the connection to your openvpn server. it gives you extra security over just issuing the certificate and your ip.
Thanks for the reply.
I followed the guide, installation seemed to go OK.
First time I connected from my local PC using OpenVPN client, it connected, disconnected and then reconnected.
Once it had reconnected it seemed to keep the connection.
My LAN's IP Range is 192.168.1.x
The range I assigned to the OpenVPN is 192.168.2.x
The NAS was 192.168.2.5, the PC 192.168.2.6
BUT… I couldn't ping the MWBE on it's OpenVPN IP Address and from the MWBE I couldn't ping my PC.
any idea why ??
For now I've removed OpenVPN from the MWBE, and will look at it again later this week.
Any advice, tips etc would be gratefully received.
you must ensure that the VPN client is launched as administrator :
on windows 7, be sure to right click on the openvpn shortcut, then select "run as administrator"
if not, the dynamic routes will not be created on the client computer, and you will not be able to ping…
Also, you must ensure that the lan from which you connect to the vpn does not use either 192.168.1.X or 192.168.2.X
