Dear Helpful Linux Gurus,
My question is one I'm sure several other Mac users on this forum also have. Before I upgrade to Mac OS X Lion, I need to make sure that compatibility with my MBWE White Light is A-OK!
I know that a new stable version of Netatalk 2.2 has just been released, and that the fixes allow for Lion AFP compatibility: http://netatalk.sourceforge.net/2.2/ReleaseNotes2.2.0.html. It is also my understanding that WD will soon release a MBWE firmware upgrade implementing the new Netatalk for the benefit of Lion users. The trouble is, I don't want to update the firmware, because I don't want to lose the changes/hacks I've already made to the box.
Is there a way to upgrade to this new version of Netatalk on MBWE White Light (I'm running firmware version 01.01.16) WITHOUT a firmware upgrade? I (and many other Linux-challenged Mac users) would be so grateful to anyone who could provide a step-by-step walkthrough of the process of updating Netatalk to version 2.2.0.
As always, thank you for your time and consideration.
