Dear Helpful MBWE Community,
Before upgrading to OS X Lion, I need to make sure that my SMB connection will work. I've already seen the instructions on this page: http://mybookworld.wikidot.com/fix-samba-for-mac-osx-lion, but my /etc/mDNSResponder.conf does not contain the line ""your hostname" _smb._tcp local. 139". Here is what the file looks like for me:
"NetworkDrive" _http._tcp local. 80 "TXTVersion=1.0" "DeviceModel=WDH1NC" "Vendor=WDC" "path=/index.php"
"NetworkDrive" _daap._tcp local. 3689 "TXTVersion=1.0" "DeviceModel=WDH1NC" "Vendor=WDC"
"NetworkDrive" _afpovertcp._tcp local. 548 "TXTVersion=1.0" "DeviceModel=WDH1NC" "Vendor=WDC"
"NetworkDrive-Backup" _adisk._tcp local. 9 "sys=waMA=00:90:a9:6e:d6:5a" "dk0=adVF=0x83,adVN=WD_Backup"
I also should mention that I upgraded my Samba a few months ago following the instructions on this page: http://mybookworld.wikidot.com/samba-update. Perhaps that has something to do with the missing line in the above file?
Anyway, is the fix simply to add that missing line? [Edit: by "that missing line," I of course mean the *replacement* line mentioned on http://mybookworld.wikidot.com/fix-samba-for-mac-osx-lion, not the line that I'm supposed to have *before* following the instructions on that page]
Thanks in advance for any assistance. This forum has been and continues to be an invaluable source of information that has saved me lots of time and money.
