I'm following the guide as well as I can, I've created a new user, logged in using putty, typed in "su -" to get to root, and got into the /etc/ directory. I'm very unfamiliar with ssh (and linux), so I'm not entirely sure how to edit inittab to add the line of code. I tried a few different programs, some included filemanager style controls, all gave "permission denied" when I tried to make any changes to the file.. What am I doing wrong?
From the command line you will need to use the program vi to edit the file:
Move the cursor to the location you would like to edit and type i to edit the file.
Make your changes and then press esc to exit edit mode.
To write the changes and quit type :wq
