I'm attempting to set my Blue Ring WDMBW up so that I can watch movies off of it on the wii. WiiMC (the media player I'm using on the Wii) needs to talk by smb to the MBW using port 445.
I've gone through and followed the guide on here to update the samba to get better speeds thinking it's mostly the same process to make the wii see the one version of samba as another. So I've got samba all updated following the update guide and it all works just like it did before on the network computers so I know that samba is working.
The guide I found to make the wii see it said to make 3 changes and I did and the whole thing stopped working. My computers can't connect.
The changes that I made are: I added "microsoft-ds 445/tcp" to the services list (/etc/services),
I added "smb ports = 445" to the smb.conf file (/opt/etc/samba/smb.conf),
and I was told to add "microsoft-ds stream tcp nowait root /usr/local/samba/sbin/smbd smbd -s/etc/smb.conf -l/var/log -d0" to /etc/inetd.conf but when I added it I changed the locations like I was told to change the netbios ones in the guides;
so I actually added "microsoft-ds stream tcp nowait root /opt/sbin/smbd smbd -s/opt/etc/samba/smb.conf -1/var/log -d0"
I've done some trial and error testing and I've found that if I comment out the change to the inetd.conf file that samba works again but I've yet to find a way that it connects to the wii. Can anyone tell me either why samba stops working when I put in that line or how to fix the whole thing totally.
Thanks for the help, Bungzi
