I have a 1TB Seagate Free Agent USB drive plugged into a 1TB MyBookWorld NAS. The NAS is setup to rsync its shares to the USB.
The damnedest thing though is the USB is only mounted if I get off my ass and manually plug it in (even if it's already plugged in) … which is cool because I like to be able to take the little USB drive with me on the road. But it's no fun if the power goes out here in the country or whatever.
Without any conjecture on my part. What can be done here? A) I would like the drive to be there after reboot. And B) I'd like to be able to manually mount the drive just in case its not there for any reason in my rsync script.
My first guess would be that the USB drive had gone to sleep or something. But its light is on and its reported as all good in the http interface. So it seems to just not be mounted. Don't know if this is by design. Seems like a bad design decision to not mount the USB on boot.
