To be clear, I'm not quite a Linux noob, but am a Linux novice. I think I can handle the firefly install, but I don't want to use an existing iTunes library. I just want to install it, and point it at my MP3 directory on the MyBook. I also have zero experience with Firefly.
Looking at the firefly howto on this site, do I completely OMIT the "Copy over and setup iTunes library" section from the procedure? Will the appropriate edits to the configuration file regarding the location of our media be obvious? Can I point firefly to our media after it is up and running, using whatever configuration interface it has?
In short, if I want to pretend I don't own an iPod (actually I don't, my wife does) and have no access to iTunes, how do I properly set up Firefly vs what is in the hoto?
