So here is my plan .. Yank the drive out of the enclosure and put them in a real headles networked computer. I am only considering this because I have recently upgraded and have a 939 based system that is now collecting dust .. I was wondering if I slap these puppies in the old system if I use a linux live ced can I just access the drives ?
My primary reason is because of the extremely limited speed this little white box has. The machine that I have mothballed is a GA-K8NSC939 an athlon x64 at 2.3Ghz with 4 SATA Ports and an aftermarket gigabit nic.
Now that I've put a few hundred gigs of stuff on My Mybook 1TB I am really getting frustrated with the transfer speed and was just curious if anyone else has done this and if so what was the difficulty level?
I'm not a total *nix nub .. I do system maintainence on several Sun Systems at work so I am relatively comfortable with *nix in general . However my resposibilities are relatively limited. I wouldn't know where to start if I tryed to just slap these two monsters on the mobo and boot a livecd and I got nothing. See at work we have a small library of manuals and procedures handbooks that I can reference that are written particularly for our systems.
etc.. etc.. and so on and so on
TIA for any helpful responses :)
