Anyone know why when I click on Upgrade the System Firmware (http://mybookworld/auth/firmware_upgrade.pl) in the shared storage manager, all I get is a blank page?

u can use alternative method
look at the scripts on /usr/www/nbin/
edit the getandapplylatestfw.sh replace
$NAS_NBIN with /usr/www/nbin
URL=$1 to URL=http://cache.websupport.wdc.com/wdgxnc-02.00.15.wdg
do the same for wget.sh and every other scripts that complain that something is not found
upgrading fw is not a good thing but if you want to be on the bleeding edge… :) have fun
What is wrong with the new firmware? Does the data on the drive get lost (i.e. content of \shares\internal\PUBLIC)?
Is it possible to 'update' to the same firmware I already have (01.01.18)? Would this make my MBWE back to how it was when new?
Thats what I want to do really, is get my drive back to 'new' condition. I have installed so much and played about so much that I want to start again. I should have made an image as soon as I got it I know. I would do that if I had my time over.
the data on the \shares won' t get lost, but the root file system will be completely formatted you might want to back up some conf files. u can't go back to the old one unless you do the rescue procedure.. ah and yes upgrading the fw you will get your drive back 'new' condition. lmao and a useful way sending it into warranty and proving that you haven't touched anything XD.
some ppl have reported to have problems with the new fw. and the compiler is gone also but i think everything is available from optware
I had the same problem on My Book World Edition : i saw blank page when i tried to visit http://mybookworld/auth/firmware_upgrade.pl to upgrade my firmware.
I solved uncommenting the lines on the /etc/inittab file related to syslogd e klog.
::respawn:/sbin/syslogd -n -m 0
First of my modification the line was as follows :
#::respawn:/sbin/syslogd -n -m 0
I rebooted MyBook and the page http://mybookworld/auth/firmware_upgrade.pl is wonderfully returned to work.
I hope my contribution can help someone.
