I am using a MBWE II server (white lights) with only SMB enabled and 2x1TB drives (internal) to serve media files, exclusively.
To extend capacity served, I have attached another black MyBook 1TB (blank) via USB which the MBWE GUI formatted it OK (discovered it was FAT32 to my surprise).
However, with my WDTV Live device, I would like to browse the USB drive's contents with a more user-friendly name, rather than usb1-1share1 as it is now, so I would like to request help on either (a) renaming this share name when attaching a single-partitioned drive (via USB) or (b) create some virtual share/link to a friendlier name, say e.g. "External" that points to the USB drive's contents, while having the default share usb1-1share1 hidden from the network.
My USB drive is attached as /dev/sdc and the single partition as /dev/sdc1 for your info. I searched here and Google but could not find similar info, except an external post on how to add support for EXT3-formatted-USB-drives (sorry I cannot post URLs yet due to my low karma, it's on blog_yarrago_com).
Thus, I tried to fiddle with the file /sbin/usb_auto_share_add_php and inserting an IF statement and a line to rename $USBShareName to something friendly, if only one partition is found, but it didn't work.
Anyone with enough experience to assist me changing this ugly, automatic share name, please? Thank you in advance.
