first of all sorry for my poor english.
My friend bought MBL 3TB few days ago. We can't use this drive on OSX - all we have is "Something wrong with the volume's CNID DB, using temporary CNID DB instead. Check server messages for details. Switching to read-only mode." message after tryin to access volume. So I connected device to my Win7 laptop and try to check or upgrade firmware via www interface; unfortunatelly this is not possible - every single page of UI opens after 5 (!!) minutes - every except System/ Settings tab! I have enabled ssh access and basic *nix experience. Is there any way to upgrade firmware using ssh / ftp method? Or just speed-up device to make www interface usable?
Thanks for help!
Has the MBL finished setting up the RAID configuration? The RAID setup takes a long time and slows down the MBL a lot. Does the MBL go to sleep (blue light on) now? If not (only green light), then the MBL is working hard and you should wait it out until it has finished. Once the MBL has stopped working (has blue light), then you can try with the web interface to update firmware (i know that you will be able to update as there is a new version available).
I have a MBL on my network that i connect to with Windows, Mac OS, and Linux machines. No problems at all.

MBL is turned on now for >5 hours, green LED still blinks.
Launched top command via ssh. First CPU consuming position is
1341 root 20 0 42432 14m 2688 S 41.1 6.0 140:30.37 rsyslogd
There is no activity from me on disk, and syslog process consume over 40% of CPU!
