This is a weird one…
I'm using a MyBook Live using the 02.11.09-053 firmware. Everything has worked great until yesterday. On my MBL I have the default Public share (nothing really in there) and one called Private, which is available to one user - me. I also have the Logitech Squeezebox software running on there.
Yesterday I tried to copy some files onto my Private share from my Windows 7 (Ultimate, 64 bit) PC and the shared folder was inaccessible. I tried pinging the MBL by its name and this worked, as did pinging its IP address, but I couldn't connect to it by name using \\NameOfNAS. I tried this from three computers and all produced the same result. If I tried to map a drive to the Private folder it asked me to authenticate, but despite providing the correct username and password it constantly refused it.
I opened the web admin console and strangely it didn't ask me to authenticate. Up at the top right, where the "Logout" link usually appears, there is a message saying "Secure your device". I click this, enter a new owner password twice, and the message "30401 - You are not authorized to perform this task" appears. If I try to e.g. reset my user password on it I get the same message. Also if I look at the shares via the admin console it tells me I only have the Public share.
So I fired up Putty and try to connect via the root account (SSH is enabled) and this works perfectly, as does WinSCP if I try that (incidentally if I connect via WinSCP I see that the Public and Private shares are both there), but I cannot connect to the shared folders from any computers on my network.
Elsewhere the Squeezebox is accessible by my Squeezebox Radio and Duet receivers, so the drive is clearly working in some way.
I've done numerous shutdowns, reboots, unplug the network cable, press the reset button, change to a static and then back to a DHCP address etc. but nothing seems to fix it. A factory reset is clearly the absolute last resort!
All help gratefully received. Thanks.
