I am going to do the best I can in explaining this. I have yet to run across this anywhere, so I really need your guys' help.
I have put about 300+ gigs of data on my 500gig MyBook. I do not use mionet, I just go in and map the network drive as "\\rusty\public" (that's what I named it when I made the mistake of setting up mionet after I got it out of the box).
Well recently it's been having some problems. Broadly, I can't map it anymore. But I can ping it's IP address and get a response. I have both a hackintosh and windows vista machine that could see it before. On the hackintosh (Mac for anyone that doesn't know what I'm saying) it would just show up in the finder without me having to do anything.
So I've done every combination of rebooting the router, attempting to reset the Book with the crappy push pin button that probably hasn't done anything actually, unpluggin the Book and hitting it's power button, but still nothing. Somethings the hard drive will gear up, but no light, sometimes the light comes on and just stays solid. That's "standby" according to crappy WD support page. Sometimes it blinks some weird pattern, but it's definitely not the right one. I got it to work once randomly with the whole unplugging and reseting thing, but it's not happening anymore.
As of this second I'm just trying to get it to turn on to the point where it shows up in my router and I can ping it so I can try to modify it with some firmware or something, just to see if that helps. But it's not lighting up or anything. Just cranking the HDDs
Any ideas? I really need to be able to access this. My AIM screen name is JTFHM if you'd rather talk or something. Thanks in advance for any help.
