First, thanks for the great work everyone here, and elsewhere on the net, has done to trick out these nifty little NAS drives.
My question is whether or not anyone has repartitioned the drives in their MyBook World Edition? I've got the 1TB MBWE I (single disk) and am thinking it might be more useful to have separate partitions for different tasks (rsync backups, ftp, mediaserver, etc).
I know we're limited to 4 primary partitions on a hard drive, and WD has partitioned the MBWE drives into 4 primary partitions.
But, would it be possible to nuke the sda4 partition, create an extended partition in that space, and then carve it up into 3 or 4 smaller logical partitions?
Editing the fstab is an obvious requirement. What else would need to be edited to make sure this works. For example, it the drive were repartitioned this way there would no longer be an sda4 and anything that pointed to sda4 would need to be updated to point at sda5 (or sda6,7,8 - whichever partition you wanted to use in place of sda4).
Anyone done something like this? Anyone knowledgable enough to say whether it's possible? And, anyone know what changes would need to be made in addition to /etc/fstab?
