The other day I had the beautiful idea to update "My Book Live Firmware", now I got installed the Version: MyBookLive 02.11.09-053 : Core F/W
I was trying to install back my dear Transmission client, but I am having some issues…

Any tutorial that I could follow using this version of Firmware?

Before the update I was used to install Transmission by myself, building from scratch Transmissionbt.
Now when I try to install some packages the answer is always the following or a similar one:

 /var/cache/apt/archives/dpkg_1.15.8.12_powerpc.deb

Any idea?
What do you guys have installed?

Is the easiest option to Downgrade?

By this two lines, it seems that the package 'wd-nas 01.00.01-69399' alrealdy created the file /etc/logrotate.d/dpkg, and the installation of package dpkg_1.15.8.12_powerpc.deb could not override this file.

Why are you trying to reinstall dpkg, is it really needed to install transmission?

I was following the instruction in the official Transmission page (Debian Squeeze): https:[slash][slash]trac[dot]transmissionbt[dot]com[slash]wiki[slash]Building
Those were similar steps that I followed the last time I've installed Transmission in MyBookLive.

The message

dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/dpkg_1.15.8.12_powerpc.deb (—unpack):
trying to overwrite '/etc/logrotate.d/dpkg', which is also in package wd-nas 01.00.01-69399

Appeared when running:

# apt-get install ca-certificates libcurl4-openssl-dev libssl-dev pkg-config build-essential checkinstall

Finally I found the solution by simply removing the WD components that were giving me issues.
The idea came by reading the "Instructions for using Debian to build source packages" in the official WD Download Firmware list of versions and instruction to remove wd-nas components]" page: http:[slash][slash]support[dot]wdc[dot]com[slash]product[slash]download[dot]asp?groupid=902&sid=132&lang=en

The command used was a similar one to:

# rm -f /var/lib/dpkg/info/wd-nas.*

After that the issue was an error when trying to use a C compiler… :(

But at the end I solved it by installing directly the deb package of Transmission. …actually mixing testing and experimental versions, I know it is not the nicer and cleanest way, but it worked!

…and now I have "Transmission 2.52 (13304)" in MyBookLive up and running! ;)
