what do you have installed on your mbw?
ushare, hellanzb, lynx, mc, less, ncdu, php (for use with lighttpd / zussaweb)
I have htop, mysql, php, php-fcgi, and vim installed (as well as the various dependencies needed for them)
I have FTP, Transmission, Clutch, nano, and the stuff needed to run them….
cool, what is it Clutch?
is rsync any good?
Clutch is a GUI to work with Transmission….I haven't tried rsync…..
I use rsync to backup my iTunes library and it works perfectly, I don't recall having to install it though. It Just Workstm
rsync is wonderful for copying files between linux systems.
I used rsync, nano, samba (3.2), util-linux
samba 3.2 is closer now to mount shares, but I think it's mount.cifs is broken
util-linux so I have cfdisk, sfdisk and other useful utils
Mediatomb is the only uPnP-server I tried thus far on the WDWB.
It works… but how does it compare to the other servers.
Can anyone who tried the other server (ushare, twonky) tell me which one is their preferred and for what reason?
I want to use it in combination with Xbox Mediacenter and maybe with iTunes.
I already noticed that subtitles don't work with mediatomb.
Twonky is by far the best I have used out of the three. Ok you have to pay for it, but for that reason it is far more polished than the others. Works well with iTuned and Media player, although I have not tried it with a console.
Yep… Installing was as easy as Mediatomb and it all seems a bit faster.
I still have a problem with my subtitles when I use XBMC (Xbox Media Center).
When I run it from the SMB it has no problem picking up the subtitles.
I can imagine that the uPnP-server has to pass them, so I thought of uploading the subtitles to XBMC itself.
XBMC has a special directory where I can put all the subtitles.
Again… When I'm watching them with SMB I'm getting subtitles (deleted the subtitles on the NAS), but with uPnP I don't….
Googling, I saw that many have this problem but no solution yet.
