First of all, I'd like to say how much i absolutely hate this device, and wish i had built my own with a spare drive and networked enclosure. Unfortunately i forked out £120, and i'm gonna stick with this mistake. Teaches me right for not searching he internet hard enough for a real review, by real users, instead of just reading the wonderful wonderful specs, that just comes out to a load of false advertising ;)
Second of all, i'm no linux geek. It's completely over my head, so this is a very steep learning curve…
Two nights i've spent trying to get real read/write access to my own bloody drive, and i've finally managed to get in via ssh. Finally…
Adding users, deleting users, reboots, updating firmware (all the different versions) etc etc.
Finally, it came to mind, that the usernames show up in CAPS in the web interface, even though I entered them in lower case.
So, i in putty ssh window, i tried entering the user name in CAPS as well, and what to you know. IT WORKED!!!!
After working with windows for so long, i forgot that Linux is case sensitive.
I'm a (partially) happy boy now.
Oh yeah, cheers to everyone that has added to the wealth of knowledge on this devilish device. I look forward to having my way with it, now that i have the master power. mwah hahaha… :P
