I have a 2 MBWE 1 TB drives that I want to Sync the contents of folders so I have a Primary and Backup Drives. I have managed to get SSH &VSFTPD on both drives. I can also Manually run Rsync on the backup drive and it works perfectly. so the next step is to add the job to cron, so I created /root/getfiles.sh and if I run this script at a command prompt it begins, then prompts for a password. If I enter the password it works.
I look at the documentaion for rsync and there is a —password-file=FILE paramater that I have included in my getfiles.sh but no matter where I put it, it appears to be ignored as I am always prompted for the password, which makes adding the job to cron a little worthless. The rsync client version that ships with MBWE is 2.6.8, so its not that old.
Here is my getfiles.sh
#!/bin/bash PATH=/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/bin:/sbin USER="ME" echo Syncronizing MYBACKUPS rsync -avz --password-file=/root/rsycnpw ME@192.168.1.4:MYBACKUPS/ /shares/internal/MYBACKUPS/ echo finished running script
