My MBWE 2x750GB setup in Raid1. Recently I discovered center ring keeps blinking, on the web manager I se the disk B is reported as failed.
I got the hdd out and connected it to my PC under windows. It runs, see the partitions (not the content as ext3). Nevertheless I've reformated it to NTFS hoping it will be recognised as new hdd and raid1 will be rebuilt.
MBWE however continue to report the drive B failed.
In the Drive Management I can't format it as it says "No new internal drive found".
Via SSH I ca connect and see /dev/sda as NTFS and partitions on /dev/sdb (This confuses me a little as I thought drive be will be /dev/sdb but its vice versa)
Then I see that I can not run fdisk…(never needed it so far)!!
[root@backuphdd lists]# fdisk -l fdisk: can't resolve symbol 'blkid_new_probe'
blkid commnad itself does work ok though…
[root@backuphdd lists]# blkid /dev/sda1: UUID="7C6C020E6C01C3BC" TYPE="ntfs" LABEL="NovM-} svazek" /dev/sdb1: UUID="c0a469f3-550a-4f85-09fc-40f09decedd5" TYPE="mdraid" /dev/sdb2: UUID="beee6836-cb2b-8182-3bc9-32c7c81e4586" TYPE="mdraid" /dev/sdb3: UUID="3984b6f5-945e-03ef-3f20-1d8c5e54b1c3" TYPE="mdraid" /dev/sdb4: UUID="f9c6f486-698c-a481-c53d-543ba36d5126" TYPE="mdraid" /dev/md4: UUID="fdd9f12d-05e9-4c52-88de-7fe7ff766c51" TYPE="ext3" /dev/md3: UUID="b6712a7f-8b69-444d-a5ab-b313d20a9240" TYPE="ext3" /dev/md2: TYPE="swap" /dev/md1: UUID="6042dd41-2c9f-4245-9779-7cdb54574f91" TYPE="ext3"
Now I'm really stucked and not sure how to move on. The disk appears to work OK so it could probably be still used. I'm not certain to go out and buy a new one if the problem could actually be that fdisk can't be run correctly.
The data are accessible on disk A and all backed up. Tried to cancel Raid1 to Linear but this does not happen and message "The drive is currently busy. Please stop using all shares and try again." comes up.
Tried to run the software update (there is 2.00.18 installed and thought 2.00.19 could fix the fdisk problem) but that isn't possible either as one of the drives is detected as failing…
Any ideas please…..?
