I Hope I can get some help with my MBWE. Seems to be bricked, in that the LAN adapter doesn't come up on start up - I see from my router that it doesn't ask for DHCP.
How did it happen ? I suspect while I was trying to put some new firmware on, and bailing out half way through
So. I have taken out the drive and hooked it up to my PC, with a very useful gadget that converts SATA to USB. I have access to the drive - each of the partitions can be seen in windows - but not assigned a drive letter. In Linux (where I am not so comfortable) I have managed to mount the partitons and have access to the file system.
I've replaced the 1st partition with images from this site….and the file system looks ok… but it's not changed anything.
If it's a firmware problem….how can I fix it ? given that i have access to the file system, but no session on the MBWE host… is there a script or something I could put into the equivalent of "autoexec.bat" to ask the unit to go check firmware on boot up ??
I really have no idea. I just ordered a permanent USB caddie from ebay, but I hope it doesn't come to that. There are cheaper ways for a USB disk !
thanks very much.
