This website and the guides posted by everyone have been the only and wonderful source of information for me to get the SSH access to MyBookWorld 500GB and install MediaTomb over it for streaming content to my PS3 connected to the LCD TV. Many thanks to those who have shared their information and experiences.
After experimenting like others I conclude that MediaTomb cannot stream even basic Video format container "AVI" without adding lines to its XML configuration file. This is cumbersome task and needs experimenting. I believe much of my high definition/Blu-ray rips are in MKV /M2TS/ TS container format with H.264/AVC video and AC3 5.1 audio or DTS audio. I guess making them available with MediaTomb is far from reality. Or if I am wrong can anyone please provide me a configuration script which I can just use in place of the original one to make all these work.
If not possible then can anyone please guide me how to "uninstall MediaTomb" and install the DLNA/UPNP media server with maximum compatibility for all formats just right out of the box. Is USHARE much more easier and offers compatibility or should I resort to TwonkyMedia for this purpose. I have read some people ulitmately switching to TwonkyMedia for UPNP streaming. Can it handle all formats/containers (its not explicitly mentioned on their website).
Just need the collective experience of all you good folks out there. In my Windows machine this all in one DLNA server is "Tversity", is there a equivalent to that in Linux on My Book World.
Looking forward for help to achieve a fully functional standalone NAS with DLNA compliance for PS3.
