With help from TimT and a couple of other posts I've successfully installed the Logitech Squeezeserver v 7.7.2 on to a WD Live NAS 1T model. I've moved the cache as recommended into the Public folder. I've also updated the firmware on the WD Live NAS.
Now the server is installed and running fine. It looks like the NAS itself won't enter standby. I've power meter on the mains supply so can validate that the unit powers form 9W to 4W prior to installing the squeezeserver software.
Of course I've enabled the energy saving option in the My book live web ui. I've installed one additional plugin, BBC IPlayer Radio . I've also disabled Twonky, and iTunes in the UI (and the UPnP plugin as I've seen comment elsewhere saying this can be an issue.)
Can anybody tell me if:
a) the unit should successfully enter into the energy saving mode of the WD NAS without further adjustment? of course running the Logitech Squeezeserver.
b) Concerns are the latest WD firmware might in some way prevent this?
c) Anybody know if the latest betas server might 7.8 software fix the issue?
I realise this an unsupported action, but others suggest it should work. There are a lot of plugins now I've looked in the server settings for the Logitech product, maybe some/one of these is causing the problem.
Thanks in advance of any help on this.
OK, I've done further tests and for me the Unit enters standby but during the night (when no demands or access's) the NAS exits energy save mode multiple times. If I stop the sqeezeserver this doesn't occur. So my conclusion is that the server is responsible. Shame as it would ideal if remained in the energy save mode.
