Ello all just wondering about the 500gb version of the Mybook would i be able to put another HDD and so make it the 1 tb version? asking as i am looking at one on ebay and it's the 500gb version and i got another 500gb laying around the house.
Your best bet would be to get a USB enclosure and use that to connect it to the MBWE.
G'Day the HD shipped with your MBWE contains a disk partition containing a scaled down version of the Linux operating system. This contains things like a web server (for configuring) samba (for access files via Windows) etc. If you remove the HD shipped with the box then this will be lost and you won't be able to use the box.
So as alephsmith points out extending your diskspace using a USB enclosure.
But if i use something like Ghost and just Ghost the drive with all partitions and just extend the base partition anyone know if this would work?>
You don't need Ghost or anything fancy like that, just follow the rescue procedure as outlined in the wiki. People have said that it only works with drives from WD, however I have seen no clear evidence of this.
I like the USB encolsure method mainly cause I can just daisy chain a couple of drives together as they fill up, the only problem is that it is horribly slow transferrring between devices.
Hello! The 500Gb version has only one sata port. :(
2 X MBWE 500gb
Well could i just put a 1 tb drive in there? if so would be good the other 2 are getting fullish.
