Hi, hoping someone can help…

I have a MBWE White Light and I have had Feature Pack Manager, Access Book etc. installed for a couple of years with no problems.

Last night for some reason I decided to click the 'https' option in the network settings under the Network Storage Manager section of the MBWE admin login, no idea why I decided to do this as http has been fine for years.

Now when I type in the internal static IP (192.168.1.215) I get a 'failed to connect to server' message. If I type in https : / / 192.168.1.215 then I get the Access Book login. Therefore I have no way to login to Network Storage Manager, Copy Manager, Download Manager or Feature Packs Manager.

Does anyone know how I can fix this? I basically just need the connection to be set back as http instead of https!

EDIT: I can SSH into the drive using Putty, but I have no idea what to do as I've never used Putty/SSH before but I guess this access may be of help?

I believe that the problem you are experiencing is due to not specifying the correct address or port on the IP address. So for example, you want to get to features pack manager, so you would type
https://192.168.1.215:443 where 443 is the port number for FeaturesPack Manager. or perhaps is it https://192.168.1.215/fpkmgr
for the MBWE dashboard, i am not 100% sure what the port number is, but it might be https://192.168.1.215/UI/ or something like that.
What i think is happening is that when you enter https://192.168.1.215 generically, the default application that is signaled is Access Book.

I think you are correct as I've been trying different ports but no luck so far. 443 and 8080 get me to access book.

Your suggestion of /UI gets me to a 404 error but I see your thinking and it will hopefully work if someone knows the correct /xx that I need to use!

try https://192.168.1.215/UI/#
perhaps it will work.
you might also try all the IP/port combination with http instead of https.

another idea is if you get into accessbook, is there a link in accessbook to get into featurespack manager from the accessbook interface? You might be able to change some ports in there. I know that Featurepack Manager has an option for setting the AccessBook port to something other than 443 (the default). if you can get in there, perhaps if you change it to 444 or something like that, then it will stop conflicting with the WD dashboard. 443 is the default port for all https signals, so at the moment you can getting a conflict where both WD dashboard and accessbook are listening on teh same port. Change the Accessbook port to something else and then you should be ok.

Above link with a # didn't work unfortunately and no option through access book to get into feature pack manager :(

Tried lots of other combos too!

In the meantime I've found this on highlevelbits.fr from teinturman in reply to a user that made the same mistake as me and I've given it a go but no luck yet, however, I don't entirely understand his post as I've never used SSH before, any help clarifying exactly what I need to do would be great… EDIT - OK, so I've worked out I needed to SSH in as root so a bit of progress made as I can stop the access book we server now (and restart it) but when stopped I still cannot get the web admin page.

Hi, you must keep http for the western digital interface, not https…
/opt/etc/init.d/S80lighttpd stop
/etc/init.d/S55mini_httpd

then you shoul dbe able to connect to the standard Western digital interface
please, reconfigure the web interface to use http.

then, you can launch the following command :
/opt/etc/init.d/S80lighttpd start

Ok, so still not got it working!

The first command /opt/etc/init.d/S80lighttpd stop works fine so I cannot access Access Book interface (likewise start works and I can get into Access Book again)

The command /etc/init.d/S55mini_httpd gives me the reply /etc/init.d/S55mini_httpd {start | stop | restart}

What do I need to do here?

In case anyone else has the same issue, teinturman told me how to fix it, for my device the second commanded needed to be:

/etc/init.d/S55mini_httpd start

Then I could https into the WD interface, turn it back on to http then restart access book.
