I have a WD MBWE 1TB (WD10000H1NC-00) That I can't access via network, web gui, or ssh. I tried power on/off, soft reset, and hard reset which had no effect. I removed the drive and installed in a pc that I booted using a linux usb flash drive. I can mount all the partitions and see the data. Based on this I think the hard drive is ok. I downloaded the WD GPL source code for my firmware version and extracted it but I have no idea what to do with it. Can someone please suggest what I should do next? I took a screen shot of the web gui error I get when I try to access it but I can't link it since I am a new user :-)
debrick it. lots of tutorials on this site and the wd site about how to do it.

Ok I'll try that. Just wanted to be sure that's what I should do. I didn't want to attempt to debrick it if my problem was actually something else.
Thanks!
I tried the debrick instructions and had no luck. I even purchased the MyBook Rescue tool and ran it on the original drive. Everything appeared to go ok but it's still doing the same thing. I even installed a different hard drive and no luck. I did notice something interesting. When I use the original drive it makes a whirr click sound like a bad hard drive. It's not bad because I can plug it into a pc and it ran fine for the last 24 hours. However if I plug a different drive in (Seagate Barracuda) it does not make that sound. I used a digital multimeter to test the external power supply and it's putting out 12vDC.
I really wish I could post images here because the device is sort of working but when I try to access it in a browser it gives me a page I have never seen before. I'd love for you guys to see it and get opinions about the cause. Anyone have any idea why this is happening?
what IS working with your device? Are there any ways you can connect to it?
Do you have access with Windows?
When you attached the original drive to your PC, did you run a scan for errors test?

I cannot access it via ANY means. It does not show up on the network and when I try to use the UNC name OR ip address I get an error that it's unavailable. I cannot PING, FTP, or Telnet/SSH. On the other hand, I CAN get something if I try to access it via a browser but it does not look like the usual blue WD admin page AT ALL. It's a light green background with the following text:

mini_httpd/1.19 19dec2003I ran chkdsk on the hard drive and found no errors. I've re-imaged it using the MyBook Rescue tool and the Debrick script on the WD forums. I don't think the drive is bad.
one of two things
1)your debrick was a failure. Try debricking again. Read the instructions carefully. Make sure that you are using the appropriate debrick guide for your device.
or
2) your device has a hardware failure.
I am guessing #1
