I've been trying to gain access to my drive via DYNDNS… here's the story so far…
I've successfully setup my dyndns account, forwarded traffice beyond my netgear router (using it's built in DNS) to my Western Digital MyBook 1 TB NAS drive, configuring port 80 (HTTP) to it's assigned IP address.
However here's where I get unstuck.
I'd like to be able to forward the traffic to a selected folder, and or folders on the drive. At the moment, when I navigate to the drive I get the secure drive login page http://021c.gotdns.com/.
I'd like to get the address to resolve past this point to a specific public shared drive…. how can this be done? Any ideas?
I'm working on a Mac and PC based network and have no problem accessing the drive over LAN (smb) but I'm stuck working in reverse when all I can forward to is an IP address assigned to the drive.
If not… what other routes do I have to follow?
