I am looking to use the built in my cloud alert function and add my own custom alerts. I would like a alert for when a backup is starting, in progress, finish or failed. So I went looking in the web UI for clues and found a few things related to alerts.
Take a look at the following script I found in a posting:
/usr/local/sbin/sendAlert.sh
It is used to send the alert E-Mails (i.E. upon restarting).
You can create your own events by editing
/etc/nas/strings/en_EN/alertmessages.txt
(instead of en_EN you can use whatever language your system is using)
I successfully created a new event number of 2009 for notifying me that the backup job finished running. It works by calling it from inside my backup script:
/usr/local/sbin/sendAlert.sh 2009 0 0
Note that the file "alertmessages.txt" most probably gets overwritten with a firmware update!
After trying that I was able to log a alert but nothing showed up in the web UI where the other alerts are displayed. So went digging some more…
I found and made some changes to:
/etc/nas/strings/en_US/alertmessages.txt
/var/www/htdocs/UI/stubs/alert_events.php
/var/www/htdocs/UI/stubs/alerts.php
/etc/wdcomp.d/alerts/schema/alertscope.txt
/etc/nas/alert-param.sh
Still not luck. Any help would be great.
