Hi, I have made a backup of my MBWEII with dd which completed ok. I then installed some things, which did not work so I though to brink it back to a working state without the extra file. So I used "dd" to do the restore, as it is described in the article about the new Web Interface within the Hacks & Tutorials sections. The MBWEII reboot just fine, my data was there. When I tried to login (SSH) as root I got the contents of the /etc/passwd file just before the shell prompt, where root had no password (!!!). So I set the password again, logged off and on again. Everything went ok (no strange messages). I have 2 other users, I tried to logged in as those users and got the same message. So I tryed to change the password (as I did with the root account) but the message keep appearing. So I decided to delete the users and recreate them. So this is where I found out that "adduser" and "deluser" do not work, simply cause 4 files in etc (passwd, profile, shadow, - i do not remember the last one) are set to read only, even for root. Tried to change the attributes and the owner of the /etc/passwd. I was getting the message that everything was done, but there was no actuall change.
I am ready to take drive A out and mount it on a linux system to play arround with the files while not being alive.
Before I do that, do you have any idea to avoid this painfull step???????????
