This has occurred only since the laptop was upgraded 8.0 to 8.1
I wonder if my WD samba needs a newer version?
I have tried numerous diagnostic methods - the best clue is "read_data: read failure for 4 bytes to client 192.168.0.5. Error = Connection reset by peer" in log.smbd,
which people say is generally naming issues, fixed in later samba versions.
I have samba 3.0.34 installed as standard with the latest WD firmware.
I set up a ping-logging script which showed when it occured, then later made it take action, first "ifup" (no help) then "reboot" - a cludgy workaround but better than pulling the power plug out, at least daily!
Anyone else experienced this?
