A friend of mine had a Western digital mybook world edition 2. (This is the two disk model)
After it crashed last week he replaced it with another nass, and gave the device to me.
I want to "play" with it, get it running again. Preferably even recover the data from it (and I don't even know what raid more it was).
After turning it on and performing the reset procedure the device boots to an alternating front light.
Meaning the raid is broken. At this point I can not access the device.
Even after performing the reset procedure, the device does not receive a IP address from my DHCP server. (Is this normal at this point?)
As I do not know what disk is broken (they both spin up). How do I determine the faulty disk?
I have spare disks around, they are 500GB too. Not the same brand, so it seems likely rebuilding the disk to one of mine might be a problem with disk space.
The spare disk to add, what file system should it have?
Sorry for the heap of questions, but I hope you can help me.
