The summary pretty much says it all, I hacked my MyBook WE 1TB to be a FTP server but when uploading to it, it goes really slow. Like 3500KB/s max. While when downloading I get 9800KB/s max. I do noticed that VSFTPD runs pretty hard on the CPU, and that the CPU is the bottleneck, but does anybody know a way I can speed up my VSTFTP? Because a.t.m. it goes even fast to just use the CIF-shares using Explorer to upload stuff to the drive (Local Network Connection).
Any suggestions would be nice.
Are you saying that it runs slow for Uploads on an external connection or internal LAN?
If external, it likely boils down to connection limitation (Most ISPs are 500kbit/s upload tops!)
If internal, likely boils down to a hard drive limitation of the unit itself :)
