I have a MBWE 1Tb NAS. I've been through setup and access on this thing more times than I can count. I have connected it to my linksys router. I've accessed the setup via IE and have modified this device to have a static IP address.
I've created a share, and created 2 users. My machine I am working form is a Vista based laptop, and I have a second laptop running XP.
All seems well. I map to the share. I change the connection name to be one of the users I created on the MBWE. Life is good, maps right tothe share. Can duplicate this on the XP box. Access the share, transfer files. Again, all seems well.
However, I go about town and do my errands for the day. My laptop, of course, goes to sleep and breaks the wireless connection to the router. Now the fun begins.
I fire my laptp back up and now I cannot access the shares via VISTA. I can still acces the device via IE. BUt, hat I have noticed now is that I cannot update passwords, create users, modify security, etc. I get F::00013 errors about not being able to write to config files, etc. It gives me the unix path name, but I don't remember it.
When I try to create a new map to the share, I get an error message saying the establish connection for file and print sharing (SMB) is not configured or something to that effect.
If I go and power cycle my MBWE and use the reset option, life returns to good. Shares are accessible and all is well. UNTIL my computer next breaks the wireless connectoin to the router.
I have had this happen with both the Vista and XP machine?
any thoughts as to what this issue is or how to address it?
