Hi all,
is there a way to restore everything (not only config option) to the factory default without dismantle it?
Upgrading or reinstalling firmware will set the my book back to almost a factory state. Then you will need to reset the web settings.
So…
1 upgrading or reinstalling firmware
2 login to web gui
under advanced settings choose restore factory settings
Or press and hold the reset button on the back of the My Book for 30 seconds then release. The My Book will clear all web setting back to their default.
I hope this helps.
done, but it doesn't work =(
I've installed twonky 7, and after reinstalling latest firmware and restore factory setting I still have twonky 7 and everything else I've done in system folders and init.d '-.-
I'm even facing a problem restoring everything even with dismantling it, unfortunately all the discussions seem to be outdated so they refer to rescue files that are not existing any more, did you reach any success?
1. Remove the plastic strip that seals the two major pieces of plastic together. Use a screwdriver to pry it out if you're having troubles. (I lost this strip years ago, so it doesn't show up in any photos.)
2. Separate the two major pieces of plastic by depressing the tabs on the top and bottom of the drive near the front curve. Pull forward on the curved piece of plastic fairly strongly for it to come apart.
3. Four screws hold the hard drive in the case. Two of these are easy to access, the other two are right behind the plastic. If you remove some of the screws holding the metal frame into the plastic, I think you will be able to lift the frame up high enough to reach the other two screws.
4. Unplug the cable from the end of the hard drive and lift the hard drive out of the case.

Now you can plug back your Hard Drive to your Mybook and boot on it.
You will be asked the same questions as the very first time that you used your Mybook ( Accept eula, timezone, DHCP or Static configuration) I do not describe this here, as you have already done it once…
