to your NAS, you can use sftp to transfer files from windows to NAS
FileZilla is a good choice as a ssh client.

Actaully I disagree with ishbellnas, I think what your trying to do is perfectly viable. The MyBooks work great as media servers as long as you are not trying to stream HD shows. I used mine
