Update SSH

This tutorial is just copied from the forum (http://mybookworld.wikidot.com/forum/t-219027/) in order to make it more available. Thanks Silver Knight for providing it.

Install updated version of SSH

So SSH is a great tool but running such an old version that comes on the mybook can be dangerous so let's grab the newest copy.

# ipkg update
# ipkg install openssh

It will take a while to generate the keys. Be patient!

Make the updated version of SSH start instead of the original version

Make a backup of /etc/inetd.conf:

# cp /etc/inetd.conf /etc/inetd.conf.bak

Comment out the following line (by puttin # first in the line):

ssh stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/sshd sshd -i

Add the following line instead:

ssh stream tcp nowait root /opt/sbin/sshd sshd -i

It should look like this when finished:

#ssh stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/sshd sshd -i
ssh stream tcp nowait root /opt/sbin/sshd sshd -i

Just reboot:

# reboot

Your Putty will become inactive, so just close it and wait for the mybook to reboot. When you ssh back in you'll be prompted that the keys have changed. This is normal and the new key should be accepted.
